delta mechanism for 2lis_01_s001

hi,

could someone let me know how the delta mechanism works for 2lis_01_s001 datasource, since 01 application component is not available in lbwe. is this 2lis_01_s001 datasource not a lo datasource ?

i heard that these 's' data sources are older one and sap is not recommending to use these. if this is true, then from where top customers and several other reports getting data ?
